I had fun reviewing essay writing skills–thesis statement, supporting paragraphs, correct bibliography format–with deacons-to-be at the beautiful Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center at the Palisades in August. Make money, influence others, and express yourself with freelance writing! Learn to write compelling stories for magazines, blogs, websites, and more. This fun, hands-on class takes you step-by-step through the writing/publishing process, from getting ideas to cashing your checks. We’ll cover ideas, research, marketing, writing skills, building your platform, and more.

Report Writing & Document Design (1 session)

Learn to write for specific audiences, design documents for readability and clarity, and write concisely using plain English guidelines. We’ll cover formatting your manuscript, creating a cover, choosing key words, understanding pricing options, tracking sales, marketing your books, and much more.

Write Night: Join us anytime!

Join Chris and fiction instructor Leslie Hall for Write Night, a weekly facilitated writer’s support class. Get regular feedback and create a support system for your writing life.  Write Night can become your built-in deadline and will help you write more, high-quality manuscripts.

Write Night meets Thursdays, 6:15-8:30 p.m., at the Richmond Masonic Hall, N. 185th St. & Linden Ave. N. (just a block west of Hwy 99) in Shoreline.

About Chris

Christine DuboisChristine Dubois is an award-winning writer and editor who has published more than 450 articles in 45 different magazines and newspapers. She teaches writing at North Seattle College as well as for local businesses. Her warmth, knowledge, and enthusiasm make her a popular instructor.

Dubois has successfully tackled writing projects of all types, including articles, websites, ad copy, resumes, appeal letters, advertising copy, press releases, brochures, curriculum, scripts, reports, book editing, publicity campaigns, and more.

Her professional experience includes: 10 years as Communications Director for The South 47 Farm, senior editor for View Publishing at Group Health Cooperative, assignment editor at KING-TV News, and more than 20 years as a freelance writer.

She is co-author, together with her husband, Steven E. Bourne, of “Waiting in Hope: Meditations for Expectant Parents.”

Dubois has a degree in Communications from the University of Washington and has received numerous awards from professional communications groups for excellence in writing, editing, and photography. She is a member of the National Writer’s Union.
