Business Writing Essentials (1 session)

Wednesday, June 5

This course offers practical tips for producing professional-looking business documents. Learn the importance of writing for a specific audience and making the purpose and call to action clear.  Review  writing strategies for routine, persuasive, negative news, and personal messages. Then try your skill at hands-on exercises that reinforce the 5 C’s of good business writing—being concrete, clear, concise, courteous, and correct. Class will be held on campus.

Easy Steps to Great Grammar (3 weeks)

Monday, July 8-22
North Seattle College, 6:30-8:30 p.m., $99

Confused about grammar and punctuation? This fun, hands-on class will help you master the latest rules, avoid common errors, and write with confidence. We’ll cover apostrophes, verb tense, word usage, subject/verb agreement, commas/semicolons, style guides, how to avoid the 10 most common grammar and punctuation mistakes, and more. Class includes plenty of examples and exercises to help you practice your new skills.

Freelance Writing for Fun & Profit (2 weeks)

Monday, Aug. 5-12
North Seattle College, 6:30-9 p.m., $79

Make money, influence others, and express yourself with freelance writing! Learn to write compelling stories for magazines, blogs, websites, and more. This fun, hands-on class takes you step-by-step through the writing/publishing process, from getting ideas to cashing your checks. We’ll cover ideas, research, marketing, writing skills, building your platform, and more.

Write Night: Join us anytime!

Join Chris and fiction instructor Leslie Hall for Write Night, a weekly facilitated writer’s support class. Get regular feedback and create a support system for your writing life.  Write Night can become your built-in deadline and will help you write more, high-quality manuscripts.

Write Night meets Thursdays, 6:15-8:30 p.m., at the Richmond Masonic Hall, N. 185th St. & Linden Ave. N. (just a block west of Hwy 99) in Shoreline.
